Short Circuit are a rapper sword team based in the Newcastle upon Tyne area. The team formed to dance their own version of the local rapper sword dance tradition. They practise weekly and perform locally and at festivals further afield. Rapper is a fast and furious form of dance and dances typically last between 5 and 8 minutes. Luckily Short Circuit includes several well known and highly regarded performers and teachers of clog and step dance. This enables the team to put on longer performances up to half an hour including, in addition to their rapper dances, clog steps in a variety of styles and rhythms.
